Maybe Ocean’s 8 will be able to pull off what Ghostbusters couldn’t, namely put out a hit movie that was originally an all male cast, with all females instead. Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the Sandra Bullock led film, and we have to admit, it looks pretty fun.
In Ocean’s 8, Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, the estranger sister of George Clooney’s character Danny in the first three films. Like Danny, Debbie is a criminal known for pulling off big heists. The trailer starts with Debbie at her parole hearing, stating she’s looking for a simple life, with a regular job and a few friends. Of course what she doesn’t tell the parole board is that she’s planning a heist to rip off the annual Met Gala. Why does she have to do it? Well according to Debbie, it’s “because it’s what I’m good at.”
The film also stars Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina. Damian Lewis, Richard Armitage and James Corden will co-star. For those who like watching for cameos, there will be several in the film as well, including Dakota Fanning, Matt Damon, Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian West, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Olivia Munn, Katie Holmes, Zayn Malik, Zac Posen, Adriana Lima and Serena Williams.
George Clooney is producing the film along with Steven Soderbergh, with Gary Ross directing. And in case you were wondering, Ocean’s 8 is considered both a sequel and a spin-off.
Ocean’s 8 hits theatres on June 8, 2018.
